Global Bicycle Purchase Index: Your input matters to improve industry planning

Accell Group's bankruptcy has shown how essential information is for effective purchasing planning. Insufficient supply-chain information led to excessively large order volumes between 2020 and 2022. Excess inventory continued to drain Accell Group's financial position for several years and ultimately led to the demise of the once-largest bicycle factory. The Global Bicycle Purchase Index (GPBI) gives you insights into the supply chain thanks to the industry's input.

The industry can no longer rely on guesswork for forecasting. The Global Bicycle Purchasing Index provides an indicator that anticipates future trends. This economic indicator gives you insight into the health and trends of the manufacturing and trade sectors.

Who should participate in the survey?

This short survey (approximately 3-5 minutes) is part of a joint initiative by Bike Europe, Eurobike and IFH Cologne. We invite all industry peers, particularly product managers, supply chain managers, purchasing managers and other decision-makers, to participate in the survey.

The results of this survey will be published on this website on 1 October.

GBPI puts focus on the impact of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how businesses handle data. AI tools can now map fields, convert formats, and identify inconsistencies. What does it actually mean for the bicycle industry? The GBPI will put the spotlight on this topic and provide insights into how the industry already uses or could use AI in its procurement and sourcing activities. This survey therefore examines if the industry is open to investing in AI for procurement and sourcing in the next 12 months.

Deeper global market insights

With this additional focus, the GBPI provides even deeper insights into global market dynamics — offering international procurement professionals a valuable benchmark for decision-making in the fast-changing bicycle and micromobility sector.

Your input will remain fully anonymous and will be handled in accordance with data protection and privacy standards. Interested in reading the previous publication of the Global Bicycle Purchasing Index? You can download it here:
